  • Overview

    Bethlehem, CT - Newport Academy is seeking psychiatric support for a fifty-three (53) bed campus where residential care for teens and young adults will be offered over lengths of stay from 45-90 days.  Physician is to work collaboratively with NP’s, MD’s and PA’s on staff, carrying a caseload as well as serving as a member of the leadership team. An on site presence 5 days a week is preferred.


    Here is a list of responsibilities that are typically part of a psychiatry providers agreement at Newport Academy:


    • Psychiatric care of any and all residents; along with overseeing other psychiatrists and APRN on staff
    • Round on site as mutually agreed upon by both Parties in writing.
    • On-call is described as, accessible by phone for medication, counsel and approval.
    • Review medical concerns/history for potential resident for medical clearance at request of Admissions
    • Perform Psychiatric Assessments and Follow-up Sessions with residents/patients
    • Ensure that a Psychiatric Assessment is performed on all resident/patient performed within 24 to 48 hours of admission
    • Collaborate with psychiatry and medical teams, providing supervision, support and direction to nurse practitioners and psychiatrists
    • Attend to residents requiring basic psychiatric assistance while in treatment
    • Facilitate Staff Trainings on pertinent Psychiatric issues and standards
    • Attend and participate in Treatment Team Meetings
    • Complete all required documentation in accordance with Company policies
    • Liaison with staff National Medical Director, Clinical Director, Patient’s Parent(s) and other necessary treatment team members
    • Speak with Parents of Patients as needed regarding psychiatric matters
    • Speak with Referral Sources of Patients regarding psychiatric matters
    • Assist Newport Academy Outreach Team forge relationships with Hospitals and other referral sources
    • Lecture in the community at time mutually agreed upon by both Parties
    • Maintain a dedication to customer service
